Nichole Watson is the proud principal of Prescott Elementary School in the Parkrose School District. Born and raised in Oregon, Nichole graduated with a Bachelor’s in Social Science and a Master’s degree in Education from Portland State University. And to deepen her practice and understanding of education, she is pursuing a Doctorate in Educational Leadership at Lewis & Clark College.
Tiffany Burns lives in the Siskiyou Mountains outside Ashland, Oregon with her college sweetheart husband and their two fabulous children. Her house is a hub of activity - always full of kids, friends, family, and pets.
Erika has been a proud educator for over twenty years, serving in a variety of roles. She currently serves as the Assistant Superintendent for the Ashland School District in beautiful Southern Oregon. She grew up in Portland, OR, graduating from the University of Oregon with a Master’s in Education in 2001. She dove head first into her career as a special education teacher at the middle school level. In this work, she endeavored to provide each student with the individualized supports needed to reach their limitless potential.
This pre-conference will begin with how to build Connected Relationships for Learning by unpacking the components of how to truly listen, treat all students with dignity, and build a culture of trust. We identify specific strategies and tools to embed into your routines and vocabulary to build connections and show care to all students. Participants will walk away from this session with the skills to use eye contact, body language, tone, and volume to help de-escalate students and further connection. Additionally, we know that emotions are contagious.
