These may be driven by fluctuations in enrollment, economic struggles, financial realities from the bargaining process, or specific decisions directly impacting your district. This session offers an opportunity to learn from three experienced colleagues about strategies for managing any budgeting situation.

For this panel presentation, our goal is to share information with conference participants, specifically regarding the recommendations of the Future Ready Oregon consortia. Each consortium arrived at the same conclusion: K-12 must be the foundation of our workforce system in Oregon, and K-12 must align with other systems—community colleges, training centers, apprenticeships, etc.—if Oregon has any chance of meeting workforce demand across industry sectors.
Hillsboro School District Superintendent Travis Reiman is a recognized leader in the advancement of career and technical education (CTE), including community partnerships across industry sectors such as education, healthcare, aerospace, sustainable agriculture, and advanced manufacturing. Under his leadership, the Hillsboro School District has expanded to 35 CTE programs and created the only Registered Youth Apprenticeship in the State of Oregon.

This session will provide educators that serve Spanish-speaking multilingual learners with the opportunity to enhance their language and literacy practices by focusing on similarities and differences between Spanish and English in their lesson planning to leverage their students’ full linguistic repertoires and promote their metalinguistic awareness.
