Heidi Sipe, Umatilla School District Superintendent since 2007, has been named the 2016 Oregon Superintendent of the Year by the Oregon Association of School Executives (OASE) and the Coalition of Oregon School Administrators (COSA). This award automatically places Sipe in the running for the National Superintendent of the Year Award from the American Association of School Administrators (AASA), sponsored by Aramark and Valic. Sipe’s selection as Oregon Superintendent of the Year was formally announced at the Oregon School Boards Association annual conference in Portland.
Rosa G. Molina is the Executive Director of ATDLE, the Association of Two-Way & Dual Language Education (ATDLE) which was founded in March 2012. ATDLE is a spin-off of Two-Way CABE that she helped found over ten years ago. In her most recent work, as Executive Director, Rosa and her team provides technical assistance and professional development to TWBI Programs in California and the Western region of the United States.
Public high schools in Oregon can score up to $3,000 for their sports departments with a California Casualty Thomas R. Brown Athletics Grant. California Casualty, a COSA partner for more than 30 years, is providing $100,000 to offset budget cuts that have affected high school athletics.
