Two-day Common Core State Standards (CCSS) Regional Trainings are scheduled in five locations around Oregon in April and May.
Sessions for teachers will include “Common Core State Standards for Mathematics in Action” and “Reading and Writing in the Classroom,” and both will be offered for Grades K-2 and 3-5 (day one) and Grades 6-12 (day two). Administrator and CCSS Leader sessions will also be offered each day, presented by national CCSS consultant John Slagle and ODE staff.
The short session of the Oregon Legislature adjourned last Friday after 33 days of work that drew mixed reviews from lawmakers and Capitol regulars. The most common complaint was that the liberal bill introduction policy brought back legislation that failed to make the grade in the last regular session, which ended less than a year ago. Reaction isn’t much different from that given to relatives who over stay their visit or fish too long out of water.
