The OASE Education Leadership Coalition (ELC) was established to develop consensus among superintendents regarding matters of educational policy and school funding. Consensus positions developed by the ELC are used to form advocacy plans and proposals, and to advise COSA staff and guide conversations with legislators and other policymakers.
OASE Off the Record Meetings are held periodically through out the school year. They are attended by school superintendents from all of Oregon's school districts and ESDs, and invited guests.
The President of OASE chairs the meetings. The agendas are prepared by the Executive Director of COSA and the OASE President after receiving suggestions from superintendents.
Each year, COSA members participate in online elections to select members of the COSA Board of Directors and department (OASE, OASSA, OESPA, OACOA) Executive Committees.
Current COSA and department officers develop a slate of candidates each winter. COSA members are encouraged to submit their names or to nominate a colleague for a leadership position by submitting a nomination e-mail that includes the name, position and district of the nominee, as well as a brief statement of support.
