The Special Session of the Legislature ended last week. Legislators passed a package of five bills ranging from new taxes, a $100 million addition to the State School Fund, adjustments in cost of living increases for PERS retirees, and statewide control of genetically modified crops.
School safety preparedness will be a focus of the final day of the 2013 Annual Principals Conference, set for Oct. 20-22 at the Riverhouse in Bend.
Common Core in Action
This year the regional series will focus on Elementary Math (K-2, 3-5) and ELA (K-2, 3-5) on the first day and Secondary Math (6-12) and ELA (6-12) on the second day. Participants on Day 1 in the elementary sessions will attend a half-day training in Math and a half-day training in ELA CCSS in their grade level band (K-2 or 3-5-6). On Day 2, secondary teachers will spend a full-day in their subject areas (6-12).
